According to the Public Relations Department of the Kurdistan Gold Mines Development Company, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, Amirhossein Naderi and his accompanying delegation visited the projects of the Kurdistan Gold Mines Development Company. The visit began at the construction site of the Saqqez Gold Extraction Plant, where Mohammadreza Moradi, the project manager of the Kurdistan Gold Mines Development Company, provided an overview of the various departments of the plant. These included the crushing, grinding, leaching, dewatering, utilities, and dry tailings storage departments, which were explained in detail to the visitors. Subsequently, the delegation visited the Qolqoleh Gold Mine to observe the preparation and equipping of the extraction workshop and the exploratory operations conducted during extraction. These efforts aim to complete and refine the operational block model. During the visit, Seyyed Zaniar Seyyedmousavi, the mining affairs manager of the Kurdistan Gold Mines Development Company, stated: "Exploratory operations at the Qolqoleh Gold Mine, following last year's successful activities, have increased the mine’s gold reserves from 12 to 15 tons. This year, 10,000 meters of additional drilling is underway and has achieved over 90% progress so far." The delegation also toured four other mines: Hamzeh Qarnian, Qareh Char, Qabqalojeh Sharghi, and Kasnazan. Exploration activities at these sites began in late August of this year, undertaken by Sadr Tamin Exploration and Drilling Company as part of a collaborative effort among subsidiaries of the Social Security Investment Company (Shasta). This section of the visit, accompanied by Abedini, CEO of Sadr Tamin Exploration and Drilling Company, included a detailed explanation of the exploratory and drilling operations carried out at these four mines. Abedini stated that, according to the planned schedule, these operations will conclude in the spring of next year. Once the data from the operations are submitted, certification of discovery for the four areas will be pursued. He described the progress of operations in this sector as satisfactory.
At the end of this visit, a meeting was held with all project stakeholders from both the plant and mining divisions to review the progress of the Kurdistan Gold Mines Development Company’s projects. During the meeting, Amir Hossein Naderi expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the Kurdistan Gold team and stated: “Considering that the climatic conditions in the Kurdistan region pose one of the main challenges for this project, planning must ensure that this issue does not delay the project’s commissioning.” He further added, “The experiences gained from the Taftan Gold Project, particularly in managing interactions with equipment suppliers and contractors, should be applied to this project as well. This approach will help minimize challenges during the commissioning phase and the transition to producing the final product.” The Saqqez Gold Extraction Plant project is being implemented in Kurdistan Province with a total investment of over $65 million by the Sadr Tamin Holding. The project aims to create sustainable employment for 500 people directly and is being executed by the Kurdistan Gold Mines Development Company.
